As we reflect on 2024, this year has been a pivotal one for Q-Park – marked by growth but also a lot of change within the business. New opportunities have been embraced and foundations strengthened in ways that will shape the future of Q-Park. Whether it was through innovative projects, targeted acquisitions or adapting to market shifts, 2024 has been a testament to their commitment, agility, and determination. In looking back, Q-Park celebrates the successes that propelled them forward and acknowledge the lessons that will drive them to even greater heights in the coming years. This blog covers the biggest stories over the course of 2024.
Q-Park got the year off to a strong start in January with their nationwide EV Charging Point rollout being nominated for two prestigious Electric Vehicle Awards. The convenience that Q-Park offer when it comes to city centre charging infrastructure is unrivalled. A full list of all their EV Charging Points can be found here.
As the country moved out of Winter in April the year really started to heat up for the team at Q-Park. Firstly, they announced the long-awaited acquisition of Park Rite. They are also one of the largest commercial car park operators in Ireland with a diverse client base including retailers, financial institutions, real estate investment trusts, private investors, hospitals and local authorities. Since then, a lot of work has been undertaken to integrate this business into the Q-Park family. Additionally, they also opened the completely refurbished Cornmarket Square parking facility in the centre of Limerick. The facility was acquired in late 2023 but had been closed for the last 18 months so a complete transformation was required to bring it up to Q-Park standard. An exclusive behind the scenes video was filmed showing how the car park was completely overhauled.
Summer saw the fruition of the rebrand and refurbishment of the Park Rite facilities which included Hynes Yard in Galway and the popular Parnell car park in Dublin City Centre. As well as the installation of the recognisable Q-Park branding on their exteriors, there have also been improvements made to customer wayfinding internally with clearer signage now fitted in both the vehicle and pedestrian areas of both car parks Q-Park also installed the futuristic PaSS Automatic Number Plate Recognition system to provide seamless access for both long-term and short-term parkers as well as opening up the parking facility for mobility partners to grant access to their target audiences. This has been done as part of a full refurbishment of the onsite parking management systems. Next up painting was completed at both Hynes Yard and Parnell in the pedestrian and vehicle areas including repairs and improvements made to the parking decks themselves. This gave the car parks a much more modern and fresher feel. The process also began to increase the power supply from the local electricity grid into the facility so that EV Charging Points can be installed and commissioned as part of their nationwide EV Infrastructure rollout. Later in the year the same process was also completed at the IFSC parking facility in Dublin whilst ensuring the same level of service in what is an exceptionally busy location.
In September, Q-Park partnered with McDonald’s for the MONOPOLY Power Peel promotion. As part of the MONOPOLY Promotion at McDonald’s customers could win one of thousands of parking vouchers when they made a purchase of qualifying items at McDonald’s. Customers then played the Power Peel game and could win a promo code to use and book discounted parking.
Q-Park were then delighted to be able to round off the year by donating €9597 to the Rotunda Foundation as part of the partnership that provides discounted parking for visitors to the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin City Centre. Q-Park refreshed the discount agreement with the Rotunda Foundation for parking at Q-Park Parnell and now visitors to the Hospital are able to validate their parking tickets and receive a discounted parking rate of just €7,50 with €1 from every transaction donated directly to the Foundation by Q-Park. This year, contributions to the Rotunda Foundation have helped fund essential programs and services, including advanced medical equipment, research initiatives, and patient-centred care for mothers, babies, and families.
The Q-Park team in Ireland has had an outstanding year in 2024, and with next year already shaping up to be equally busy, it appears they are entering a sustained period of success. They took the chance to follow in the footsteps of Spotify and announced a ‘Q-Park Wrapped’ on their social media that covered which locations were the most popular for both pre-booking parking online and also the Mobile app. We would like to wish all customers and staff members a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
